Christmas Gift Guide for Women 2014

Also known as Heather’s Wish List 2014. True, maybe I’m in the minority – I know a lot of women that would not want power tools under the Christmas tree, but I also know a lot of women that would LOVE to have some awesome tools. I kept it pretty generic, and I would love any/all of these things – well, I have a Kindle Fire, but other than that… here is the Christmas gift guide for women! *Some links are affiliate links*

Things I Saw That I Loved #6

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

First, I need to show all of you what I’m working on. I promise I haven’t just been binge-watching Parenthood (bad idea, don’t try it) or eating Cheetos Puffs.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember that waaaaaaaay back in April, I went to Round Top with my friend Lindsay. We saw lots of weird stuff, but also lots of great stuff. Of course I only bought the great stuff (Lindsay was questionable – oh, hey, Lindsay!), but my favorite purchases were two fabric pieces with sayings printed on them. Of course, I can’t leave well enough alone, so I decided one night this week to start embroidering over the letters. Mind you, I’ve never embroidered a thing in my life, so I am totally winging it. I’m also totally rocking it, if I do say so myself. I can even do it while I’m (not) watching Parenthood 6 episodes at a time!

Screenprint Before | Queen of Everything

Screenprint During | Queen of Everything

See? I’ve been busy! I bought another one with a different saying on it – I have big plans for that one as well. I’m going through this one pretty quickly, so I might actually have a finished product to show you this week!

Down to business:

Here are some of the Things I Saw That I Loved from this week. I hope you enjoy my favorite picks of this past week, and maybe find some blogs that YOU will love too. Let me know if you find some new blog loves! (PS: I’ve included links back to the original blog posts, and I’ve also pinned them on Pinterest for you so they are easy to find/repin.)

Honeycomb Hexagon Shelves | Boxy Colonial

I’ve featured Boxy Colonial before, because I think she’s awesome. I’m really sad that I missed out on Haven Conference because I would have gotten to meet her! I love the way these shelves turned out, I love the stain she used, and I even love the way her kids are using them. Pretty much love all around. Send me some?

Anthro Inspired Beaded Necklace | Happy Hour Projects

Adrianne over at Happy Hour Projects makes the coolest jewelry – and she makes it look so simple. I love this necklace, and I’m going to attempt it! It will require purchasing a few tools, but I’m not scared – I’ve worked on jewelry for half of my life! I just love the way this turned out.

I Spy DIY Gem Necklace | I Spy DIY

Speaking of jewelry, I’ve had this one saved for a while to share. The first thing I look at when I see people is their jewelry. It’s habit, I know, but that’s one of the side effects of working in a jewelry store for so long! I am loving the big gemstone/druzy trend, and this post from I Spy DIY links to a great website for purchasing them to make your own. I purchased a druzy necklace for myself on our trip to Colorado and it’s one of my favorite pieces!

Druzy Pendant | Queen of Everything

Herringbone Painting | Ooh I Like That

I received a huge, heavy box of paints from DecoArt last week to try out for them, and I just really couldn’t think of what to do with them. As soon as I saw this, I knew. I love all the colors in this canvas by Ooh I Like That! I’m a little obsessive, though, so mine will most likely not be as “spontaneous” as this one, unfortunately. Maybe I’ll just close my eyes and slap paint on it – knowing me, I would tape off stripes to divide the colors, and that is SO not the point of this project. Anyway, love it!

Rug Bench | Ciburbanity

My friend Charlotte at Ciburbanity has really good taste. As in, I would give her the keys to my house, walk away, and let her redecorate the whole thing (at her expense, of course – I’m generous like that). She finds the BEST deals and turns them into these perfect little things, like this bench of hers that I really, really want. I never would have though to cover the top with a rug!

I hope you liked this batch of awesomeness! Have a great week!

Things I Saw That I Loved #5

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

Yeah, so it’s been a while. I’m back, though!

Here are some of the “Things I Saw That I Loved” from this week. I hope you enjoy my favorite picks of this past week, and maybe find some blogs that YOU will love too. Let me know if you find some new blog loves! (PS: I’ve included links back to the original blog posts, and I’ve also pinned them on Pinterest for you so they are easy to find/repin.)

Summer-embroidery-hoop-art-Crafts-Unleashed

How fun is this easy little craft from Crafts Unleashed? I LOVE the fabric on the embroidery hoop and never would have thought to do that – I think it just makes the whole project!

Pom-Pom-Pillow

This Pom Pom Pillow just looks like something that needs to be in my life, right now. PLUS, this Dena character is a laugh a minute (I mean, with a blog called Hearts & Sharts, how could she not be?!). Go read her. Now!

Retro-Camper-Embroidery-Hoop-Art-with-Free-Pattern

Flamingo Toes has been KILLING IT lately. I love everything she is putting up. So much so, that 2 of the Things I Saw That I Loved are from her blog. Yeah, you read that right. TWO. Also, I’m obviously having a love affair with pom poms.

Huge-Fabric-US-Map-Hoop-Art

I mean, if you don’t think this is adorable, I don’t want to know you. It looks like a ton of work, but the payoff is awesome! Great way to blow through some fabric scraps – and I know we all have those.

Sewing Machine Cover

A few years ago, during an impromptu craft night with the girls, I made a sewing machine cover. It does the trick and looks cute, but not like this one does. Plus, if you spill wine (or vodka, whatever) on this one – it wipes right off. Not that I know from experience or anything. Maddie Moes hit this one out of the park!

Things I Saw That I Loved #4

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

Did you follow my trip to Round Top with Lindsay on Instagram? If not, you missed out! (Well, the pictures are still there, but you know. Real time shopping and all that jazz.) Turns out, the Round Top area does not have awesome cell service, so we had to improvise and post when we could. Just follow the #werockroundtop hashtag on Instagram and be prepared to see some creepy stuff. Round Top definitely had a theme going, guys, and you’ll figure it out after the first few pictures. I will do a full post about our day soon, I promise. I didn’t post *all* of the pictures to Instagram.

Moving on!

Here are some of the “Things I Saw That I Loved” from this week. (It is looking like this is the “My friends are awesome” edition!) I hope you enjoy my favorite picks of this past week, and maybe find some blogs that YOU will love too. Let me know if you find some new blog loves! (PS: I’ve included links back to the original blog posts, and I’ve also pinned them on Pinterest for you so they are easy to find/repin.)

Raptor Mama's Project Life Planner Pages

Raptor Mama does a LOT of Project Life layouts – and blogs, and makes other crafty stuff too. She ordered some planner pages and tweaked them to make them into what SHE needed. I love it! I am thinking I need a copy for myself. Maybe if I were more organized, this blog would have more posts than it does… I’m really impressed with what she’s done! And jealous of all the fun stuff she gets to do.

Vintage-Saftiplass-Panels | Makely Home

Now y’all. I was so excited to see this post from Makely Home come up. Why? Because I got to HELP make these! Okay, all I did was put some rubbing alcohol on strips of metal and glue those strips of metal to wood… but I still helped. Lindsay’s house was awesome. I loved it. And I love these panels she made. I have no idea how she comes up with everything she comes up with!

Stenciled Goodnight Moon Art | Ciburbanity

My friend Charlotte from Ciburbanity had a pretty exciting week. She’s a good secret keeper too – know why? She filmed an episode of Flea Market Flip LAST SPRING and didn’t tell anyone until very, very recently. It aired this past Sunday and I’m not gonna spoil it for you… but I want to know what she did with her half of the prize money 🙂 Anyway, this stenciled sign is in her dining room. I love it.

Gold Dipped Plumage Cabinet | Boxy Colonial

Isn’t this gorgeous? This pretty thing was in the East Coast Creative Blog’s link party for Crafting With The Stars (have you been following that? I’m really good at picking the winning project this time around) and I had to click and comment on it. It just caught my eye and I love how she painted the legs GOLD! Gretchen at Boxy Colonial knows what’s up.

Green Lady | Windgate Lane

Obviously, I need to go hang out with Bee at Windgate Lane more often so she can teach me her ways. (You may remember her from the very first edition of Things I Saw That I Loved…) She only lives about 45 minutes away! She loves the Rub N Buff as much as I do (oh yeah… I wrote a post about Rub N Buff but shockingly haven’t finished the whole project yet!) and I LOVE the green color she chose. I love bright colors on things that aren’t normally bright colors. Hello, I have two bright orange chests in my craft room. Bee did a beautiful job on this and I’m going to go steal it from her… right now. See ya in a few, Bee!

TGIF, right? Enjoy your weekend (I’m going to the Main Street Arts Festival and to see The Mavericks – best concert ever!) – have fun! Show these bloggers some love, too!

Things I Saw That I Loved #3

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

Well, I took a little breather because I was working on a little project and wanted to concentrate on that first – and now that that’s finished, we can get back to semi-normal around here!

Sesame Green Beans

These Sesame Green Beans from ValSoCal have been haunting my dreams. I guess I’m going to have to make them! We discovered the beauty of roasted green beans last year (I know, we’re a little late on that) and I can’t wait to try this recipe out!

Live A Creative Life printable

I am a sucker for printables. I am also a sucker for quotes. This printable from Sew Caroline combines both of them! How happy is this? I like to get things printed out at Costco – quality is great, cost is even better.

Rag Rug

This rag rug from Crafting Chicks is on my list. I have SO much fabric, since my husband works at a fabric store. I often get a ton of their scraps, whether I want them or not. Unfortunately, I don’t love ALL of the scraps, but that doesn’t matter in this rug!

Green Chile Enchilada Stack

I am a sucker for green chiles. Naturally, when I saw this Green Chile Casserole from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe (who, by the way, has a TON of excellent recipes) I knew it must be mine. Soon. Since there are only two of us at my house, we eat a lot of casseroles – great for leftovers and lunches.

Mint Chocolate Chip Neiman Marcus Bars

(Obviously I’m on a food kick this week?) If you have never had Neiman Marcus Bars, you should do that – quickly. Now Mix and Match Mama has upped the ante by adding Mint and Chocolate?! These Mint Chocolate Chip Neiman Marcus Bars are making ME want to get in the kitchen and bake. (I hate baking). (A lot).

I hope I’ve given you some new blogs to read and/or projects/recipes to make! It is always tough to narrow down the things I love, but these won for this week. Have a great week, y’all!

Things I Saw That I Loved #2

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

So, I had big plans to get a post up this week featuring something I had actually MADE, but you know how that goes. I’ve actually been very busy with projects this week – busier than I have been in months – but none of them are quite ready for their closeup yet! Hopefully this week I’ll finish at least one of them, but it’s hard to do when the actual project is at your best friend’s house. She pushes me, so it’s best if we work on things together (together meaning each of us working on our own things, but together, if that makes sense). Depending on her schedule this week, I should be able to get 2 of the projects finished and posted for y’all.

Sew Woodsy Glitter Stencil Vase This vase from Sew Woodsy caught my eye because I purchased the exact same Mod Podge stencil a couple of weeks ago and really had no idea what I was going to do with it. I love the way it turned out, and the stencils look so easy to use! It seems like a quick, simple project that even *I* could make time to do.

Dukes & Duchesses Map Decor for the Gameroom I must admit, the print is what grabbed me at first, but then I fell in love with the pillow that Dukes & Duchesses made for her gameroom. I have everything I need to make that pillow (and if we’re being honest, probably 100 extras, because I hoard craft supplies) so I’m thinking I will need to add this to my project list. This project reminds me of a picture I saw this week:

I mean, really. I love Colorado, but I would be sad that I lived in a square shaped state.

Cupcakes and Cashmere: Petite Flower and Herb Arrangements

I am a sucker for pretty flowers. I hate spending money on them, but I sure do love looking at them! I saw this little arrangement from Cupcakes and Cashmere and haven’t been able to stop thinking about how much I need to do this since then. SO inexpensive and easy. Why not?

All Things Beautiful: Easter Tree & Devotional

I met Janis of All Things Beautiful last year and love her to pieces. She is honestly one of the nicest, classiest, cutest, and down to earth people I know and I’m so glad I can call her my friend. She loves her some glitter, and every time I see anything with glass glitter, I think of Janis – so I was not surprised to see her make an Easter Devotional Tree complete with glitter eggs. I can’t wait to see her again (hopefully soon, she only lives about 4 hours away!). She has a beautiful house in south Texas that I would LOVE to have. Love you, Janis! Love the glittery eggs too 🙂

C.R.A.F.T.: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Baby Shower

My friend Jamie is about to have her very first baby, so I’ve been following along with her blog, watching all the preparations she and her husband have been making to get ready for the little baby boy! I first met Jamie at Haven 2012, where we sat next to each other in a Ryobi power tools class. Then she moved to Austin (best city in the world) and I saw her again last summer when we had a blogger get-together there! I love everything about this shower that some of her friends put on for her – so simple and so adorable. The paper stars were my favorite! I may have to copy that for myself. Congrats, Jamie! I know he will be adorable and loved and that you will be a great mom!

I hope I’ve given you some new blogs to read and/or projects/recipes to make! It is always tough to narrow down the things I love, but these won for this week. Have a great week, y’all!

Things I Saw That I Loved #1

Things I Saw That I Loved Queen of Everything

I’ve become a bad blog reader. I blame Google Reader, because when I had that, I read blogs whenever I could! In an effort to “keep up” with other blogs, I’m going to do a roundup once a week to show off the best things I saw in blogland. Blogging is hard work, and bloggers deserve some recognition!

Pesto Chicken Pizza

71 Toes: Pesto Chicken Pizza – Easy AND good AND very few ingredients! And probably not too horrible for you.

Hand Stamped Lucky Penny Necklace

Happy Hour Projects: Hand Stamped Lucky Penny Necklace I’ve always loved Adrianne’s jewelry projects – probably because I have a background in jewelry! She has inspired me many times.

5 Ways to Improve Your Handwriting

I Still Love You: 5 Easy Tips to Improve Your Handwriting. Confession: I am a total handwriting snob. I have been one as long as I can remember! I used to copy my next door neighbor’s handwriting when she babysat us, and guess who writes just like Dyan did? Me. I’ve addressed countless wedding invitations, written things out for friends having tattoos done, and I may or may not have been known to announce that “I’m having an excellent penmanship day if anyone needs me to write anything for them!”. So yeah. Bad handwriting makes me cringe. I’m sorry if I have offended those of you with poor handwriting – it’s just part of me!

Faux Card Catalog

Windgate Lane: Faux Card Catalog Bee of Windgate Lane is one of my local blogger friends, and I am so glad I know her! She is a sweetie. She’s also (obviously) pretty creative and handy. She made this from an old IKEA piece – and it turned out great! So proud of her 🙂

DIY Felt Garland

Mommy Like Whoa: Anthropologie Inspired DIY Felt Garland. I would love to buy every single thing in the home section of my local Anthropologie store. Unfortunately, I’m not independently wealthy (or dependently wealthy, for that matter!) so I stay away. I dream over the website, and think of ways to 1) buy it when it goes on sale, or 2) make it myself. I’m loving this colorful garland and I’m thinking this is a must-make for year round decor!

I hope I’ve given you some new blogs to read and/or projects/recipes to make! It is always tough to narrow down the things I love, but these won for this week. Have a great week, y’all!
